What brought you joy today?

Posted by northoftheborder @northoftheborder, Jun 28, 2024

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

I find joy working in my garden, listening to beautiful Xmas music, my husband who battled prostrate cancer in 2019, and going on his 5th year cancer free. Pictures of loved ones that have passed. Especially my special needs son Timmie. I am now dealing with my very close brother Philip, who was just diagnosed with Bladder Cancer, Stage 3 with a right kidney blockage. Given only one year to live if he doesn’t start treatment asap. Starts chemo 1/6/25. Love & prayers to all of you for this new year 2025.

The little gray squirrel with the fluffy tail who sits on the branch of the tree which is in front of the kitchen window where I sit at the table and eat. He looks in the window at me eating and licks his lips! Today, he jumped down into the garden below and was rolling and playing in the dirt! It was so cute! I opened the window and tossed him some peanuts which he immediately ate with dirt on his face! We need to be thankful for the little animals God gave us. They make life so pleasant!

I was able to celebrate Christmas Eve with all of my immediate family. I was strong enough to assemble two pans of lasagna for the meal. I have much gratitude for my cancer team at Mayo and the research medicine.

I choose Joy instead of happiness, I rejoiced not in my circumstances but in who God is within the circumstances.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, and his mercies never come to an end they are new every morning; great is his faithfulness.
The free gift of Gods grace is amazing!

I also have Stage 4 PC and received a 2 year prognosis. Today for the first time I took a leap of faith and renewed my Sirius XM for 3 years. It felt so good to say "I don't care, I am going to beat the odds even if I can't win the war. I will not lay down." It felt great!
