What brought you joy today?

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

Joy came to me today while:
Talking with friends
Reading an interesting book
Folding clean clothes from the dryer
Talking with my daughter
Watching my cat

Just some of my joys this month:
1. Beatles tribute concert outdoors on a beautiful evening
2. Daily walks enjoying beautiful foliage and wildlife
3. A generous neighbor upgraded our breezeway shared by 8 condos
4. Hallmark movie watch parties with neighbors
5. Bunco night and potlucks with neighbors
6. Squirrel and crow friends taking glass gems from neighbor’s planters and gifting them to me. Neighbor laughs. Melts my heart. ❤️
7. No traffic and a good playlist on my long drive to an appointment today!

I agree as well. I am three years in on 8/22. Makes it easy to remember my brother's birthday now. Haha!

Hi, Miriam. I feel just the same way. The old timelines don't apply as much now with all the new treatments, I think (I'll be 4 years in October).

It is still hot here in the southwest, and I'm harvesting tomatoes and heirloom lemon cucumbers from a raised bed. My diagnosis was three years ago this month, and frankly I didn't expect to live long enough to try and improve my garden! This year, in celebration of still being on earth, I decided to make this "best summer ever" for veggies, flowers, and herbs. It's time to plant autumn flowers. My mom loved mums and other brightly colored sturdy fall flowers so I get to think of her. I don't have the stamina to work hours (more from other things than cancer) so I planted half yesterday and now can finish the job. I'm appreciating that spreading it out, while sometimes frustrating, extends the happiness too. Best to all of you as well!

I had my epidural Thursday and it really feels good not to be in pain.
