What are your experiences with tramadol ?
I have been taking tramadol for over 20 years. It was first prescribed for knee pain. This was the era when they did meniscus surgery. I'm sure the medication is not effective for me now, but it continues to be prescribed. Any other thoughts or experiences?

If never worked for me.
I’ve been taking Tramadol twice daily for awhile now for nerve pain, with no issues.
I usually take it before bed, and it helps me sleep well.
I use it for Fibromyalgia, and it dulls the pain enough for me to cope with daily chores. I've been on it for about 20 years
I have substantial back and spine damage and pain that radiates down my legs. But I still continue to do yard work, washing rugs, walk my dogs, doing my housework at 73. When the pain just gets too bad that I dont think I can face the day. I will take 1/2 of a 50mg. This is once in a blue moon, but for that day I am amazed that their once was a time when I actually felt like this. When there was nothing more than a subtle ache in my body. I enjoy that day completely. To consult my primary is a joke, the only thing he will do is write me an RX to take them twice a day. I have no need for another addition, nor do I need liver or kidney damage. So thats my thought on this!
It's marginal at best, but that's why I find it hard to believe that it is supposedly one of the strongest opioids available. Most physicians wouldn't prescribe it without batting an eye if that was the case.
My PCP described it as the least effective and it is not anOpoid
My PCP prescribed this as well. Went on a for a few months. Did not work as well, not much relief
tramadol was wicked for me. I only took it for 3 days straight with sleeping pills for night. I had told the doctor sleeping pills didn't work n me but still he said try it. for 3 days NO PAIN also no sleep and by 3 days my vision was almost gone. The next week my pain was a killer so I tried just 1 day and immediate vision loss and no pain or sleep. Anything that has those kind of side effects is not worth even trying.
Tramadol was ineffective for me. I recently had DNA testing that showed I do not metabolize tramadol and this explained it’s ineffectiveness.
How do you get the DNA testing? Does insurance cover it. Gabapentin doesn't help my fibro pain very much. It does help me sleep at night.
