What are your accommodation recommendations when coming to Mayo?

Posted by Jamie Olson @jamienolson, Mar 24, 2017

Here are links to hotel accommodations in all three Mayo locations:

Jacksonville: http://mayocl.in/2odKzVg
Rochester: http://mayocl.in/2nQ58el
Scottsdale/Phoenix area: http://mayocl.in/2nMeMyq

Where is your favorite place to stay when going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Jacksonville or Scottsdale/Phoenix? Why?

@bpenner

We will be arriving early Wednesday for appointments in endocrinology first then neurosurgery on Thursday. What is the best recommendation for lodging and the best source for on line directions to both the lodging and the two clinics/hospitals?

Priceline offers rooms at Marriott Stay Bridge Suites $64.00-$90.00 per night, right across the street (free parking).
Hotwire offers (free parking) $61.00-$71.00 per night at the Kahler Inn and Suites. Has underground tunnels to Mayo Clinic. We really like Hotwire.

Both Priceline & Hotwire charge a small service fee, but hotel rooms are ‘usually’ non refundable (refunds depend on hotel but must go thru booking co fir refund)
Holiday inn web site room charge about $89-$98 if you book online.
Holiday inn on Broadway (has skyway to Mayo Clinic)

When you book be sure to look at maps or you could have a bit of a ride. Many hotels have free van services.

You can give me a call if you want more info. We are back at mayo about every 6 weeks!

Mayo is worth the drive, flights and hotel because they are the best.

I’ve also used Expedia.com, but you have to be careful because changing dates for flights and hotel can cause you to lose any refunds.

The best hotel prices I ever got were through American Airlines. After I booked my most recent flights, the web site asked if I wanted to book my room using them. We got the nicest room we’d ever had at the Kahler Grand at the lowest prices we’d ever paid.

If you go to hotel web sites and order directly, many also have specials for AAA, AARP, etc.

Utilize Concierge Services! They can answer all questions you may have about the Rochester area, Mayo Clinic Campus, restaurants, hotels, things to do, shopping and more. Booking hotels and flights can be tricky when visiting the clinic so call them. Even better-they are a free service to you! Give them a call-they are in the office Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-6:00 pm CST. I love staying there, too! Super-close, good restaurants, Starbucks, caramel corn store, and hooked to the Subway.

We book on HOTWIRE to get the best rates under $80.00
at Kahler Grand (paymfor parking) or Kahler Inn &’Suites(free parking)
both connect to Mayo Clinic underground or just across the street from
Mayo &’Gonda.

Be sure to select only Downtown Rochester to get Kahler.
Otherwise you can book a tiny room directly with Kahler Grand for $89.00 student rate or patient rate. For training you will be a student.

Tha Kaler Grand Hotel is the best for us. It is just in front of Mayo Clinic in Rochester. And has a free transport to Saint Marys Hospital and to walmart and for some hotels near

This is @clockrem12 in Concierge Services and I highly suggest that you avoid booking online unless you are FOR SURE of your departure date! Often times patients book rooms this way and get stuck paying for nights they don’t stay because they book a non-refundable rate. Book direct through the hotel-it is not worth the headache.

I agree with @clockrem12. Last year, I had to actually shortened a stay, but I had booked through Expedia.com, so I wasn’t eligible for e refund.

@amanda1983, did they move the caramel corn store upstairs? It used to be in the subway level. I’m going to be there mid-May, and I can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on some of this caramel corn again… it’s the best I’ve ever had!
