Was Budesonide helpful long-term for collagenous colitis?
For those of you that have tried budesonide, are the side effects and remission good enough that you would recommend it to others? I've read a lot of scientific papers, but need life info. Among my plethora of body ills, I have collagenous colitis (CC, 8 years) and IgA chronic kidney disease (CKD, new this summer). I've managed CC with diet, no gluten, legumes, or NSAIDs (and only caffeine is dark chocolate), but the CKD has complicated things. Stress management is very important to controlling CC and other GI diseases, but sometimes life slaps us upside the head. When I get stressed my kidneys can't filter water well enough and shuttle it over to my colon that says "hey, I can't handle this" and then there is a mess. So I'm thinking of trying low dose budesonide. Imodium didn't help; it gave me constipation and diarrhea at the same time.
