Warning from the FDA regarding OTC topical pain relievers-PLEASE READ!
The FDA and NIH have identified OTC topical pain relievers sold online that contain more than what their label states it does that can be harmful.

I believe the articles are warning about oral supplements that contain medications that aren’t listed as an ingredient, not topical OTC.

You still must be very careful about topicals. I had pennsaid prescribed for my arthritic thumbs and I could immediately taste it in my mouth. I put 1 drop on and the pain went away immediately but I also started loosing my vision. remember the skin is the biggest organ of the body so it takes meds all over very quickly. Now I use rub A535. Good luck.

2 ReactionsMy gosh - I've seen it at WalMart and HyVee. If you have trouble finding it on the shelf ask someone behind the counter at the prescription section. Someone there should be able to show you where it's stocked. On your own, I woud try the "pain" aisle where you would find aspirin, Tylenol . etc. If you can't find it, send another post and I'll look myself so i can be specific. Also, tell us what store you woud be shopping at. I haven't checked at Target.
@kd59 Volteran gel only comes in 1% OTC or 3% prescription, where is the 10 times stronger?

Your post is misleading. The warning is for additional ingredients some manufacturers are adding to topical OTC pain relievers.
From the link you provided….

This is a compounded product by this pharmacy. It is not from the manufacturer and is the precise type of product the FDA article is speaking about.
All I did was post an FDA warning. If you feel the article is misleading contact them.
