Want to hear positive things about anterior hip replacement
I am having a hip replacement in two mos. It will be done by the anterior method without cutting the muscles. I am interested in hearing only positive experiences. I’m hoping it will take away my knee pain which might be referred pain from hip. I’ve already had a kbeecreplacement

Knee replacement, same side as hip
@snoony2 I had an anterior total hip replacement in November, 2019. I had osteoarthritis in that hip that was getting worse over time. I was up and walking with a PT within a few hours after waking up from surgery. I haven’t had any pain or problems with the replaced hip. It has taken me some time to regain strength in the surgical hip but I worked at it and I can definitely tell the difference. So, as you requested, I have only positive feedback on my anterior hip replacement.
What made you decide to get a hip replacement and why anterior instead of posterior?
You will regain your mobility. Everyone reacts differently in terms of recovery time. I learned to be patient and not compare myself to others. “Remember, its a marathon, not a sprint”
But I already had knee replacement and I don’t expect this to be as bad
I just want to hear from others about good recovery experiences
I had a right hip replacement on February 7, 2023. I was AMAZED that I really had NO PAIN after my surgery. I had waited almost 2 years (WITH PAIN) because I could NOT afford to quit work until the end of 2022. I was sure I would experience pain like I was having BEFORE the surgery immediately after the surgery, but I did NOT!!! The first night after surgery, I had NO PAIN ALL NIGHT LONG. I live in Northport, Alabama (suburb of Tuscaloosa, Alabama) and have an AWESOME doctor. EVERYBODY I had talked to about him before the surgery that had had surgery done by him, had told me how great he was, and he was everything I had heard about him and more. Don't be apprehensive, if you do what you are told to do and follow up with Physical Therapy, you will do wonderful!!!
I had a knee replacement 6 months before my hip replacement on the same side. Compared to the knee, the hip replacement was a walk in the park. Each of us is different but , I think you will find the recovery time quicker with the hip. My knee joint often hurts but the hip has never bothered me since the replacement. The knee joint is more complex. I wish you a speedy recovery!
Thank you very much
Thank you
In anterior they don’t cut the muscles. It’s a far less invasive type of surgery
