Walk4Hearing Page Dilemma

Posted by hlaasdan @hlaasdan, Jul 23, 2019

Anyone else also having this problem of the Top purple bar being too big in their Walk4Hearing page? To the point that the Top purple bar is blocking the top of the page below? I've already notified the webmaster about it. And if needed, would also like to let the webmaster know that there are also other users out there that have the same problem. Thanks.

Shown below is a print screen:

And if needed, here's the Walk4Hearing page if you'd like to take a look to see if you also have the same problem?

Thanks!

Never had that problem. I use Firefox as my web browser. Did you try a different browser? Did you contact the walk director, Ronnie Adler? They'll probably want to know which browser you're using.

Sometimes that happens because screens are different sizes and if you monitor is smaller than the WALK program is - the top blue ribbon is larger than your screen. What you can do is make your picture smaller - you can do that on the upper right screen where you have a dash, a box and and X marks. Hit the box and it will make the screen smaller so that it is smaller size. Then put your second finger on the mouse and hold down the button on a clear place on the smaller screen and move it to place where you can see everything well on the monitor. Even though it is smaller, you should be able to see everything it should, just a bit smaller.

I have this problem in some of the browsers I use, not all of them. As for the ones I have a problem with, I find that it helps if I zoom to 90% of the screen, rather than using up the whole 100%. It's a good temporary solution. And the last I heard, HLAA and the webmaster were also working on this issue.

They fixed the problem by removing some texts from the top purple bar making it smaller.

Quick update. Since this problem has been solved. It wasn't necessary for me to leave the screen shot graphic in the web server I use. Thus you may now get a not found clicking on the link in the op, grin.

I can’t get the damn page to load. Every year it is a horrible experience, but this year I simply cannot get it to load. I try early morning, chrome, Edge, laptop, desktop. Does not load. Cannot participate until it renders.

Are you having problems with other web pages loading? Since the problem happens with all browsers it's not a possible browser plug-in problem. Have you let HLAA know? There's a "contact us" link on the walk page, but if the page isn't loading, you may not see it. I would contact the HLAA webmaster from this link: https://www.hearingloss.org/about-hlaa/contact-us/

Actually, I remember now - I can't go directly to "My Walk Page." If I try that it doesn't load. If I go to the national page, find a walk, and then find my walk page, it loads. So, 3 steps instead of 1. Could be worse. It is clunky, but not as horrible as I wrote above.

@mmyatt01757 I am going to pass your question along to Ronnie Adler. She is the national manager of the Walk4Hearing but I am on the Walk committee for Philadelphia with her and will see her at our meeting next Wed. I have never tried to go directly to my Walk page. I always go through the main page. But let me see if there is a way to go directly to your Walk page where you can just put in your password and enter it. Mike M.

Thanks, appreciate it. It's no big deal. It's probably my 'User error'!
