Waiting for response from Mayo
My son filled out a request for an appointment last Wednesday and still has not received a response back from Mayo regarding a new patient appointment.
How long does it usually take?

I thought I read somewhere an appointment coordinator will contact the new patient in 3-5 business days to set up a phone interview to review information. But, I can not find a definite answer to your question on Mayo's website. If he does hear something soon, he can call Central Appointment Office, 507-538-3270 to check on request.
If more than a week I would call the department and ask for the appt co-ordinator and ask if the request is still pending.
@myboysthree I would definitely call them. That’s what I did and things moved forward after that.

With everything happening with your son, I hope you were able to have a good Thanksgiving.
Has he got a response from Mayo yet?
Thank you Laurie.
We did have a good Thanksgiving with him and his brothers. Unfortunately he left early due to the pressure and pain he experiences every time he eats something. He refuses to call his current oncologist to get something to ease the pressure and pain and gets upset with me for even mentioning it. I’m walking on eggshells right now, struggling to find my place at this time. I’m torn between taking control of the situation from a mother’s perspective and the realization that he is a strong headed young man that has the ability to make his own decisions. It has become very challenging already and we’ve only just begun. I pray for strength every day.
On another note, I did have to pressure him into calling Mayo on Tuesday as he still had not heard from them. He was able to talk with someone who instructed him to call his current oncologist to get his results faxed to Mayo. Currently waiting for a response back from them. I’m assuming with the holiday weekend there will be delays.
Thank you for checking in on us and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I will update as soon as we know more.
