Vitreous retinal surgery

Posted by marjou @marjou, Oct 19, 2022

Am scheduled for surgery because I barely can see from left eye. Have postponed this surgery for over a year and frankly scared. Who has had this surgery? What’s alternative in not having it done? Then in six months need to have cataract procedure.

After having cataract surgery years ago, I had a problem with vitreous fluid floating around in my eyes which was very annoying! My eye doctor referred me to a retina specialist who performed a vitrectomy for floaters. Thank Heaven this surgery took care of the problem! I have known no other people needing this after cataract surgery, but the doc said he did this procedure about once a year. Hope this helps!

I am glad 🙂 saw this post. I want to have this surgery so badly but there is a 5% chance of retina detachment. We’re you told this too?

No, I was never told that. The doc said he did this type of surgery about once a year.

Greetings healthnut76!
So glad to hear of your successful surgery!
I am also in need of a floaters only vitrectomy. My floaters worsened after cataract surgery 3 years ago. Would you mind recommending your doctor?

Thank you
