Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 16, 2020

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

Oh, how lovely! This belongs in a Fairy Tale story.

I am an avid rock and gem collector and have been since childhood. In fact my most prized "found" possession is a small heart shaped rock I found at our local park at age 7. One of the 2 arched parts had chipped off and a white vein on that flat part of the the rock had the capital letter "A" which is the first letter of my given name.

When I showed my bridge group and told them the story, I added that I'd brought it from my safety dep. box just to show them. One of group started her very infectious giggle (which set the others off) saying you are the only person I'll ever know who keeps a small, ordinary rock in a bank safe deposit box. Wellllll, let's face it. You can lead 'em to water but you really can't make them drink, yes?????

Chris, soooo glad you searched until you found it. No wonder it is your favorite. I'm going into a trance state getting lost in the beauty. Thank you so much. And for those silly judges, no accounting for some with poor taste; they must have been looped. Pure serenity this.

Lioness, it Really is a small world. We were stationed at Tonopah, NV our first 2 yrs of marriage and did a great deal of rock sleuthing. We had some of our collection from several locales later made into a boomerang shaped side table. The table still reminds me of so many shared fun times from those early years. Impressive that your hubby crafted a clock from your found agate.
