What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?

Posted by esperanza22 @esperanza22, Jul 27, 2020

Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

Hi Paula - thank you so much for replying. I’m so sorry the Vertiflex didn’t work for you. We, who are in pain 24/7, willing to try what we can to relieve the pain. Seeing this was minimal invasive I went for it. I’m better than I was but still experiencing the tightness in the back and pain. I want to bend so bad to stretching my back but of course can’t do that. Its been 3 weeks I had the procedure done. I tried everything before the Vertiflex - injections, RFA - tried each twice to no relief. That’s why I did the Vertiflex. I’m experiencing a lot of tightness in my lower back. And stiffness which causes pain.
I wish you luck today. Pray it works for you. Please let me know how you are doing. 🤗

thank you and you are correct - being in constant pain - I also went for the vertiflex for the same reasons you stated. I think one of the issues is that for me, anyway, I have not been able to move/walk so my muscles are so week. I was a gymnast and an athlete when I was young. Probably that is what caused the damage....but we will continue to try for a remedy. If this does not work I may visit a surgeon - this is last resort. Crazy thing is that I am able to golf, mainly because I can sit in the cart in between swings - and I love that. I will keep you posted. The last time saw this doctor he gave me very little sedation and I screamed cause it hurt......he yelled at me to be quiet - woah...hopefully this time they will sedate the bejesus out of me so I do not scream...hahaha anyway thanks for the prayers -

Oh gosh he didn’t sedate you?! I did injections once with no sedation & I said nope never again. I had general anesthesia for injections and certainly the Vertiflex. Your doctor doesn’t seem like he has much compassion.
Again I wish you the best.

As I had commented earlier, I would update you all after my visit with my Surgeon on March 31. I am so sorry to inform you that the appointment was cancelled and now rescheduled for April 14th. I am trying to get by with CBD gummies and drops, ice packs, and heating pads. Two weeks seems a long ways off.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I got little to no relief. It has been over a year and the pain has never gone away. I am going in today for Radiofrequency Neurotomy. I am hopeful this will work. Sadly I have a dr. that to say the least is not very kind, but at this point I have to keep trying. I hope it works for you. Be cautious of them prescribing gabapentin. I was and I had some negative experiences. I am sure it is different for everyone. I will check back in tomorrow - my surgerey is at 3:00 EST today - wish me luck

Well thank you for your concern/interest. I went in yesterday to have the procedure, but my blood pressure was way too high. They have rescheduled for May 2 at a surgery center where I can be totally sedated. I am hoping for the best and will keep you posted. Best of luck on your journey. God Bless

I finally had my surgeon's appointment regarding the vertiflex that was put in a year ago. This was performed by a pain doctor that has since moved a few months ago to Santa Fe which is about 4 hours from where I presently live. Any way the appointment last week was a consult with my original surgeon who did fusions in 2018. He is needing a current MRI from me before he can say too much but he definitely did not approve of any more Vertiflex procedures because they are very temporary and only give relieve for 4 to 6 months. Which was true in my case. I will post another update after my MRI and appt. on May 12th

Is this procedure a diskectomy?

Hi Alan, The Vertiflex Superion implant is a minimally invasive treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis. For some people, it can be an alternative to other, more intense surgical options, such as a laminectomy or spinal fusion. A diskectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the damaged portion of a herniated disk in your spine.

Has a diskectomy been suggested for you?

Thank you. I had a MILD procedure but it did not help. Now the vertiflex is recommended. My insurance does not cover either of these (blue cross/blue shield). So I am uncertain how to proceed. Is the vertiflex different than a discecrony?
