Using CBD to reduce inflammation

Posted by docm @docmeehan, Dec 25, 2024

Hi, I'm interested if finding out if anyone has had success in reducing the inflammation associated with PMR using CBD? I'm trying to taper down the Prednisone and finding it to be a difficult process. Any help would certainly be appreciated!

Hi @docmeehan, I haven't tried CBD when my PMR was active to see if it would help but I'm sure there are others here on Connect that may be able to share their experience. While you wait for responses, here is a search link that shows posts by other members who have mentioned using CBD with PMR -https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/comments/?search=cbd%20%20reduce%20inflammation.

There are also many discussions on tapering off of prednisone that might be helpful. Just click the link above and type "tapering off of prednisone" in the search box. While it doesn't mention PMR specifically, there is some research that talks about CBD reducing inflammation.

I don't have PMR. But I have been dealing with inflammation. I'm seeing a rheumatologist in a few days to rule out RA as I've had three tests that were high. I started on CBD full spectrum 750mg gummies one per day and a tincture 550mg taking a dropper full twice a day. These both haI have to say my pain is much more reduced. I'm starting on my third month of taking it. If it continues to help, I'll continue taking it. For those not familiar with the term full spectrum it means it has THC in it.

I'm glad that CBD is working for you. I have considered trying it for my PMR pain. What is the ratio of CBD/THC that you are using?

I am against steroids for myself, so researched other things, LDN for one, which is going to be my choice if I need it. Right now, my legs, by the grace of the Universe, are better. Of course, we never know what will happen tomorrow.
I did have an appt with a CBD "specialist" tied to my rheum office.
It was very informative but the big message was that CBD would probably not help much. However, if you can and are willing to take THC, they're finding it to be helpful for PMR.

The gummies are 45 mg hemp and 25 mg cannabinol per serving. The tincture is 19.14 mg hemp and 16.67 mg cannabinol per serving.

750 mg is A LOT! Are you sure it isn’t 75?
I have 25 mg Wyld CBD I use. I have never heard of someone taking that amount.

750 is the total in the container. I posted the per serving in my previous reply.

Thanks for the clarification. It was confusing & I wouldn’t want someone to take 750.
