High BUN and creatinine can certainly cause itch in cases of renal failure.
Perhaps he was flippant because your wife’s numbers are not high enough
to typically cause itch.
If you are not satisfied have a second opinion with a dermatologist for check up or ask for a referral to a nephrologist. Both specialists diagnose and treat
uremic itch. They can do additional tests and treatment,
Have you had her medication profile checked for another frequent source of
itching reactions.?
