Chronology of Symptoms & Treatment

I was diagnosed with a sore throat. My doctor prescribed azithromycin.

~1 week later
After completing the antibiotic, I developed severe dizziness. The dizziness was intense and persistent.

Hospital admission
Due to worsening symptoms, I was admitted to the hospital. I was started on:

Mannitol

Betahistine 24 mg

Flunarizine (Frego)

Despite these treatments, my dizziness did not improve.

IV steroid treatment
The doctors then administered IV steroids (100 mg per day) and observed me for improvement.
After 3 days, there was no significant improvement.

Surgical / interventional procedure
Because symptoms persisted, the doctors performed a round window sealing / tympanotomy procedure.

Steroids were injected directly into the cochlea/labyrinth

A steroid-soaked spongostan was placed to allow prolonged local steroid exposure

The plan was to observe for improvement over 2 weeks following the procedure.

Current status (Week 1 post-procedure)
I am currently one week after the procedure.

I am still experiencing dizziness

It is too early to determine whether symptoms will improve or if they may be permanent
