Unexplained weight loss and other symptoms?
I am curious as to other than the unexplained weight loss as the primary symptom, what other changes did you notice in your body before being diagnosed. Did you have anxiety? Did you notice any hair loss? Any change in smell or body odor differences. Did you notice any differences in your finger nails, skin and eyes? Did you have neuropathy way before things went south? Did you notice something was different with your GI system?
I am also curious if Mayo has gathered early and or strange symptoms that could lead someone to get checked earlier. For example some people might develop skin issues due to the immune system fighting something.
Where can a person that is suffering from undiagnosed weight loss go to find any advise, help or clues to steer them in the right direction?
Thanks!

Hello @123anthony Anthony, my initial cancer diagnosis was due to abdominal pain I was encountering. I have no experience with what you are asking, however, I have added a link that may help. I found this on the Mayo Clinic site. https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/unexplained-weight-loss/basics/when-to-see-doctor/sym-20050700. Have you engaged your doctor to help you resolve your questions?
Good morning @123anthony . Welcome to MayoClinicConnect. We’re a diverse group of people who share information related to different health issues. We share what works and what doesn’t and provide support. But, we aren’t medical professionals so can’t give specific information or diagnoses. You’ve asked about symptoms that might possibly mean cancer. Are you having some specific symptoms now? What has your doctor said? I would suggest that you make a list of bodily changes/symptoms that are bothering you and make an appointment with your doctor. Symptoms can mean all sorts of things, some good, some bad, and some just annoying! Please let us know what the doctor has to say
@123anthony- Welcome to Mayo Connect. what a terrific question. With each human being so different early symptoms that can show up, even for the same cancer, can be very different.
I had a cough and blood before my diagnosis of lung cancer. Although my fears were realized I wasn't shocked.
There are many early symptoms that can indicate a cancer you have to keep in mind that they could be indicative of other illnesses, bout major and minor too. Are you suspecting cancer because of a noticeable loss of weight?
I hope that this link helps is some way, but it's important for you to see a doctor first. Have you already had an appointment?
