Has anyone visited a pulmonologist at UMKC (Kansas City)?
Has anyone visited a pulmonologist at UMKC ? They are listed as a “center of excellence.” I may have to transfer somewhere else due to insurance. Looking for a recommendation in Kansas City.

I go to Dr Schmid at KU Pulmanology. They are a care center for bronchiectasis/NTM. Dr Schmid is the director and his nurse Dena are excellent! Look him up. I am looking for more people in the local area. Dr Schmid said they used to have a support group there but it went away during Covid. I think would be excellent to start another group.
How is their clinic set up? Do you just see a pulmonologist? Is respiratory therapy involved? What about an infectious disease Dr? Do they want periodic sputum samples?
How often do they see you? And how often are CT scans recommended.
I’ve been to two different “centers” in the past 5 years and the care varies widely.
Sorry about all the questions…😊
