When they insert the probe and also do a ultrasound, can they see inside the uterus?

Yes. They measure the thickness of the lining of the uterus (endometrium), and can also see polyps. TVUS can also be used to see early pregnancies.

Yes, I was an ultrasound technologist for years. The probe used with a full bladder on your pelvis, is the best way to measure the uterus, and look at the area surrounding it, for fluid, tumors… The vaginal probe allows us to evaluate the endometrium, and ovaries more closely, it is also a close up view of the layers of your uterus.

Thank you. It only showed some thickness so do they do a biopsy for just that?

It depends on how thick it is, where you are in your menstrual cycle… They may order a follow up ultrasound to see if it resolves or changes.
