I love sweets too!!! One thing we do is slice up apples and place in a bowl and microwave them for a couple of minutes. Can add truvia and a little cinnamon. We then top with a smidgen of Great Grains cereal. For one thing it's an individual serving so when it's gone....it's gone!! It makes a great crisp. Simple and easy but tastes great!!

That's a great solution, and can be applied to so many things! You get that big bag in front of you, and grab a handful...When my husband was first diagnosed, we used snack bags and carefully measured out pistachios, almonds or ?? until he could easily visualize a serving size.

I do that too. $$$$ savings not buying it pre-packaged that way.

I feel about the same way using Metformin. Every side effect that they warn you of I feel.
I was only taking half and that was ok for awhile but now I can't tolerate it. My numbers got down into the prediabetic stage so I quit Metformin. I don't see the endocrinologist until July so I'm expecting a scolding. Leslee

Ive seen ppl take metformin but I'm avoiding that medicine like the plague!. That thing gave me severe diarrhea for 10 days!. It only stopped when I stopped taking that poison!. I never had diarrhea like that in all my life! I use Juvian and the only side effects I had was a runny nose that lasted 3 days!,

Metformin did that to me too. Tradjenta was very effective and gave me stable sugar results. A1c 7.0 +/- ,3

Seems like many people have trouble with Metformin - either bad reactions or it is simply ineffective. Other people have the same issues with Glipizide. I'm lucky, it all works for me; but my husband was switched to Jardiance by his endocrinologist and it has resulted in much better and stable glucose level control. Good luck.

Maybe the ER version might be better for you?

Metformin caused me severe diarrhea also but the worst thing was that it was very bad for my kidneys. I was glad when I was taken off of it. Now, since my A1C was 10.8 they put me on Jardiance, Mounjaro and also Insulin. My numbers are now down to 5.5 with some side effects from the Mounjaro mostly but at least the severe diarrhea has stayed gone. I hope that you feel better soon and the right medication is prescribed for you. It's not a one size fits all with ailments. Have a blessed day.

All medications have potential side effects. Before starting something new talk to your doctor about what to be aware of and what you can do to make the adjustment easier to tolerate. This way once you start the medication you will be prepared for the side effects &/or you will have a better idea if you and your doctor need to consider an alternative medication. Thankfully there are usually other options. If you truly can’t tolerate something, there is usually an alternative.

Hi,
I have problems with all diabetic medications including insulins. Currently off meds and hanging in there waiting for more experienced input. Because my reactions are not listed it is psycological! I have run tests to prove I am correct in my claims, going off and on meds with the same reactions time and time again over 10 years. I have even had to produce the common chemicals contained in insulin to prove it is not the insulin itself but the carrier chemicals that are causing the reactions. I have found one other person with the same problem so don't believe it is just me.
I carb count, refrain from sugar or substitues and am still active in my 70's. This is all I can do apart from not eating and that I have tried from time to time. I have discovered I do better with higher blood glucose and blood pressure than is "normal". I come alive and look forward to each day where as on meds I tend to lose the plot and am dissinterested in everything with a nasty streak of rage when stirred. Downside is I'm into the related issues with uncontrollable blood pressure and glucose levels. I assume after 30 years of this carry on my body has become accustomed to this as the new norm for me, reacting to anything different.
Cheers
