Ha ha, it is not always the case and sometimes it is before, sometimes during and sometimes after 🤢, but girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do 😋.

Regarding preservation of the species - that theory would work if female had capacity to reproduce as long as a male, but no woman after about 50 can reproduce, while man can as long as he is alive. If reproduction was the factor, females would be dying very soon after 50, so that resources are preserved for the next generation but what actually happens is the opposite. I believe that XX and XY actually have the biggest influence since Y misses one whole segment of chromatin material 😬. That and a high levels of estrogen that females have for good part of their lives which protects their cardiovascular system.

I've read quite a few theories about this. A BIG part of the difference in lifespans is risk-taking. The numbers in parens are how many years each of these things pulls down the average:

Men are 2-3 times as likely to die from car accidents (1)

Men are victims of 80% of homicides (0.3)

Men are 3-4x more likely to die by suicide (0.4)

Risky behaviors--reckless driving, fighting, not seeing doctors, drinking, smoking (1.5)

So about 3 years of the average lifespan reduction is due to specific male behaviors. The one exception is that men develop heart disease earlier than women.

Yes, but after 60 most men pretty much calm down ; ) and do not enjoy thrill seeking but still men die sooner, even in cultures where drinking is forbidden (like in Islamic countries ) and even in Tibet where people do not indulge in unhealthy behaviors (both male and female), no crime there, no wars, and equal and very basic at that medical care.

Women just live longer and nobody knows why BUT it has to be genes and it is actually 5-6 year difference in longevity.

No-one saying it? k......

Why do men die before their wives?
Because they want to.

As a 70 year old MD friend of mine said recently...if you are a man and live long enough you too will have PC. Some needs to be treated and some does not

Interesting. I did not know that it carries over across countries.
