Two APOE4 Alleles But Am Asymptomatic - Would Mayo Want Me?
I have two APOE4 Alleles (this is the strongest risk factor for Alzheimer's), but am currently asymptomatic. I have not seen any physician yet, and I am not sure when I should engage one. Only 2-5% of the population have two copies of APOE4, so it's uncommon. Other than that, my situation is pretty straightforward. I don't know if I am "special" enough to warrant Mayo's attention, or if I even need it because I don't even have mild cognitive impairment at this time. I'm really concerned about delaying / preventing as much as I can. Should I contact Mayo for an appointment, and have them sort me out, or is there another place I can go for guidance?
