Turning to the natural world for help and answers.

I have the distinct feeling that COVID has killed off all of the good bacteria in my gut. No matter how much healthy, nutrient rich food I eat, my body doesn't seem to be benefitting all that much. I've been clearheaded this week, finally, and I'm wondering how to go about fixing that without spending a lot of money on unreliable manufactured products, and I remembered weeds. My old friends.

I spent years studying wild plants, used to go out every day to pick a basket of this and that for salad. I love salad and that was delicious. Where I live now the soil and weather makes them pretty tough and bitter, so I haven't eaten them much. Now I'm thinking: are those weeds harboring healthy gut bacteria that might help me? Turns out, they are!

I immediately went out to my overgrown garden (because I've been too sick and tired to do any yard work) and had a snack. Some were bitter, some pretty sweet. I remembered one yard where lots of tender mallows grow. I'm going to walk my dog up there this evening and look for some good healthy bacteria. No one else seems interested in helping me. I bet my plant friends will.

If there is dog walking there, I'd be very careful about eating the vegetation.

I guess since you have studied plants, you know which weeds are safe. Some weeds are very toxic and can kill you. I wouldn't try this unless I had a deep knowledge about plant safety. I do believe that weeds may harbor healing properties, but knowing which ones to try could be tricky.
