Trouble with vacuum pumps
Despite surgery and radiation and now one more hormone shot , I bought a vacuum pump 2 months ago, I’m totally frustrated with it , I can get an erection close in size before surgery but not hard enough for sex , any suggestions, I’m not ready for implant or injection but will be after my second hormone shot wears off in 3 months

I've been into this thing for a lot of years so I don't use sildenafil every or every other day. I use it before my wife and I wish to have sex. At the time I use 100mg and we use the time for it kicking in just talking and a little foreplay. After the sildenafil does all it's going to do, I use the pump. I pump it until I'm hard enough for having sex. It isn't the most comfortable of things to use but we have a great sex life using this method.
When you first started using a pump did you have the issues that I have , I can get it to a good girth and length but not stiff, maybe it’s because despite surgery and radiation I’m not yet done with hormone therapy , one more shot soon but it lasts for 3 months or more maybe I’m wasting my time until that’s over ? My high testosterone level is gone with these shots and I was use to great sex several times a week, can’t believe I could ever survive 6 months with no sex
]I did have issues and after a long while of trying, I just gave up for a couple of years. I wasn't married at the time but did have a girlfriend. Another time period and a new girlfriend I was using the pump with success but it was extremely uncomfortable with the band on. I then tried the Trimix with some success but keeping the solution in the fridge was ok but it lost its potency soon. I went then with Viagra and the pump which has greatly improved my sex life with my new wife. Plus I don't have to pay for the expensive Trimix and drive an hour to resupply.
I'm on my third battle with this cancer and had my prostate removed in 2008. Will most likely begin hormone therapy sometime this year.
I think the ADT has a lot to do with it. I’ve been pretty much impotent for 6 yrs and like you, got no satisfaction from the pump; pills didn’t work and I was about to try Trimix when the cancer recurred.
So the Orgovyx wiped out any desire on my part to even try; but weirdly, after being off of it for one month I am starting to actually get involuntary (nocturnal) erections unrelated to having to urinate.
Don’t know if this is a harbinger of better days or simply a rebound effect from ADT.
In any case, I would not gauge your success or failure to achieve an erection so long as you’re on ADT. It’s probably better to just wait til you’re completely done and then go for it.
But DO continue daily Cialis - very important for blood flow!
I think you’re right trying to too hard now sets me up for frustration and days of depression, I’m jealous of your night time surprises, you sure you’re not having a horny dream
I’m sorry for your third battle, I had surgery last summer and prayed it was over, wrong it was still there , I believe they could only save one side of my nerves, pet scan showed surgery missed some cancer this the radiation and now more hormone therapy, I’m not sure how I could handle a third return . I find it a little dishonest when we hear how treatable our cancer is with so many of us going thru hell a second or third time . My suggestion to anyone in their 70’s or older that my first question with my surgeon should have been would I have a chance to live another 10 yrs or more without any treatment. If my doctor said yes I would take my chances and enjoy what life you have left, good luck to all of us
So I was 68 when my first battle began with no following treatments after prostate removed. They got it all, except for a tiny bit that didn't come back until 11 years later. Had Lupron during 36 radiation treatments. My PSA was near undetectable for a short while. Maybe first six months but it started creeping up. Now at a 10.58 a couple of weeks ago. I've lost count but 4 or 5 PET scans have not found a cancer. Will wait another 3 months for another PSA count and quite likely another PET scan after collaboration between my radiation oncologist and my medical oncologist.
So, I keep a open mind, think positively, and do lots of research. I work as I want to at 81 keeping busy around the outdoors of the house. I plant some vegetables and flowers and keep up with my honeydos. Married a 6 year you're wife in August 2024 that is very energetic.
Except for the hidden demon, life is good but could change dramatically in 3 more months.
You’re a strong person, not sure how I’d handle my cancer returning in 11 yrs, wish you the best
Don’t be jealous of a cocktail weiner!
It’s always amazing to me how confounding these PSMA PET’s are. The say you need about .5 for anything to show in a salvage situation, yet here you are at more than twenty times that - and NOTHING!!
I think jeffmarc mentioned a different tracer you could use in these situations?
If that’s clear, then what are you supposed to do? Go on ADT just because…? Very frustrating for sure….
