Has anyone had trigger point injections for severe cervical arthritis and bilateral facet arthropathy?

Hi there,

I have had them for various issues and altho they worked for me, they do not work for everyone. Well worth trying, nothing to lose. Amen

maryelle,
trigger point lidocaine injections can be great for ongoing muscle spasms. I've had them all over my upper back.
Though I think that several methods of muscle massage are better, nothing is more immediately effective than lidocaine directly numbing the muscle knot or adhesion. The relief can be long term if you don't reaggravate the muscle with the activity that caused it. But will be short term if the causative action is repeated.
For facet arthropathy, you might think about facet joint injections, which I haven't had. These injections numb the medial branch nerve that carries pain signals. The injections also contain steroid which reduce inflammation that might be compressing exiting nerves.

I had the facet joint injections twice 4 years ago. The first time I had relief for 6 months and the second time it didn't last at all. I'm having an MRI soon and maybe that will reveal nerve compression. I've been seeing a chiropractor for the past six months and though there is some initial relief, it doesn't last. I do neck stretches daily. I agree about the causative repeated action playing a big part of this. I also have a displaced fracture in my right acromion that probably causes some radiating pain. Thanks so much for your response.
