Treatment for Early Lymphocyte Rich HL

Posted by lenascott67 @lenascott67, Aug 6 3:14pm

Anyone familiar with this?
Recently diagnosed incidentally. I asymptomatic. The prognosis is good “very treatable” “very high cure rate”
Doctors are recommending 8 infusions of ABVD. Seems very aggressive approach. Anyone have experience with treating this early? Chemo? Radiation? Combination?

Hi @lenascott67. I know it can be quite disconcerting having a diagnosis of cancer. Especially if you’re asymptomatic and feeling fine. I did read through an earlier post of yours to see that you had an enlarged lymph node near your aorta. If this has been classified as HL, that may be why your doctor feels treatment should be started. Treatment is based on the type of cells and the stage of the disease.

Sometimes ‘being very treatable’ and ‘having a high cure rate’ means having to go through treatment such as the chemotherapy. The meds of choice most often used for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a cocktail of
ABVD~ Adriamycin (doxorubicin), Bleomycin, Vinblastine, Dacarbazine
But there may be other medication options such as brentuximab for some types of HL.

You seem unsure about starting treatment for your diagnosis. Have you considered a second opinion?
