Traveling Abroad on Tamoxifen with side effects

Posted by Arvind Natarajan @malebreastcancer47, Jan 7 9:48pm

I was planning to travel abroad, after many years of hiatus. After speaking with my oncology team, they said I have be careful with blood clots. And said I should not stop Tamoxifen. I am now leary of flying, unsure what issues I may encounter while flying and during my EU stay. I will be flying solo.

Question - Can I travel abroad while taking Tamoxifen? What are the risks? Should I get travel insurance if I become ill?

@mamajite A friend that hosts a Neurodiversity Summit in Davos, invited me to attend in person. We will be staying in Scuol.
This is the event - https://davosneurodiversitysummit.com/index.html

I have been asked to share my ADHD journey and discuss the benefits of Neurofeedback, that can help with brain fog due to cancer, cognitive decline, anxiety, PTSD. I do not take any medications for anxiety or adhd. I am naturally present now. 🙂
Since this is my first flight abroad in 16 yrs, Mayo said I could pause for 10 days. Works for me. Did not want hot flashes, fatigue or drowsiness in flight. Elevation could be an issue but we are staying at the Belvedere hotel, it has a nice spa.

Need to work on minimizing jet lag.

@malebreastcancer47 that sounds like a rewarding endeavor. I hope you have a wonderful time! I think places with mountains and water are the most beautiful. ☺️

I flew to Europe five times over the course of the ten years I was on tamoxifen or Anastrozole. Never had an issue.

@denzie Appreciate the response. Doctors are always cautious. I am going to wear compression sleeve and socks. Last time I flew abroad, I did not have sleep apnea, cancer or diabetes. My Endo said to take Mounjaro 10 mg but can lower to 7.5 mg.
