Transitioning back to Gabapentin from lyrica and how?

Posted by chefalexandergs @chefalexandergs, Feb 9 7:08pm

I am currently taking 75 mg lyrica 2x day, because the gabapentin dose I was on 300 mg was not helping me with the pain and it was giving me a lot of side effects (numbness across both extremities, dry mouth, etc. ) however, after I started the lyrica dose, my dry mouth has gotten worse and it only really helping with the pain for the first couple of days. I have only been on the lyrica for 1 week so far and my neurologist said I could just switch back without tapering.

1- can I really just switch cold turkey back to Gabapentin 300mg 2x a day like I was before? I read that this switch is best done in increments…

2- anyone has any suggestions on how else to deal with the pain when it is is too high during these flare ups? I have tried cbd tinctures, cbd plus thc tinctures, tens machine for my lower back pain, cold and hot compresses for my feet, etc etc. my pain really doesn’t go away ever, it is just controlled throughout the day, but sleeping really is a nightmare because I cannot lay down without pain at night.

Thanks In advance for your help and suggestions.
