I'm having a biopsy next week. Already had an ultrasound done. What is the percentage its cancerous. Anyone have similar results? If so what was the outcome?
Heterogeneous, hypoechoic solid nodule with mildly irregular margins
within the mid pole with punctate internal echogenic foci measures 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm-TIRADS 5.
TR5: Highly suspicious (at least 7 pts) FNA if nodule at least 1 cm

1 ReactionI have a thyroid nodule measuring 1.3 with which measured TR 4 (4-6 pt): Moderately suspicious.
Composition: Mixed cystic solid (1 pt)
Echogenicity: Isoechoic (1 pt)
Taller than wide: No (0 pt)
Margins: Smooth (0 pt)
Echogenic foci: Punctate calcifications (3 pt), macrocalcifications (1 pt)
Comparison to prior exam: None
TR 4 (4 to 6 points)
No discrete left thyroid lobe nodules.
ISTHMUS: 0.3 cm AP.
I scheduled an appointment to get a biopsy. Even though my ultrasound said, "No discrete left thyroid lobe nodules" This time the ultrasound showed multiple nodules deep within the thyroid that were too close to the major vessels/carotid artery, they could not continue with the needle biopsy. I was told to come back in 6 months because the nodule is so small. I feel highly at risk for it growing into a big problem. I've just had a lot of medical issues going on recently and I just can't catch a break. Good luck with your biopsy love cats.

1 ReactionIf this were me I would save my questions for my doctor!!! I went through this so many times and got myself nuts thinking of all kind of things and when I went to the doctor things went very well and the doctor explained everything very carefully and thoroughly! If your doctor thought it was something that was going to grow very quickly he or she would not have you come back in six months. When you do go to your doctor make a list of questions to ask him. Having questions and making up every single question that I could think of it lowered my anxiety which I have a lot of!!! my very best wishes to you!!! it certainly can’t hurt to keep your glass half full and go with the flow!!!

Results are: FNA biopsy report states suspicious for papillary carcinoma.
Can anyone tell me what happened for them after this?
I will see the Endocrinologist in less than 2 weeks.

1 ReactionMy papillary thyroid cancer was diagnosed as a result of a lymph node removed during my tongue cancer surgery. That was Oct. 2023. Surgeon said not to worry. I should complete my chemo and radiation for my original cancer, heal up, and when all recovered come back for thyroid surgery/ removal. Point here is he said it was a slow growing cancer and we were in no rush. I,had my,thyroid removed in May of 2024.
During the diagnosis of my tongue cancer my thyroid wad biopsied in 15 places. Fine needle biopsy. All were negative. But cancer had spread to the lymph node so it must have been there.....somewhere! Its all gone now. Cancer free and learning to like levothyroxine!

4 Reactions@lovecats2025, I joined your 3 questions about the diagnostic process into one discussion here:

I did this to help people follow your journey with diagnosis. I'm glad to hear that you will see the endocrinologist in less than 2 weeks. Now is a good time to gather your questions. I'm sure your mind is reeling. It might be helpful to have pen and paper (or your phone) nearby to jot down questions for the endocrinologist as they pop into your head so they don't go round and round in your mind.
To help you get started, scroll down almost to the bottom of this Mayo information to the section called "Preparing for your appointment" https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/thyroid-cancer/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20354167
There you will find questions to ask and more.

1 Reaction@janagain Thank you for your response. I hope they get to do your biopsy. Its definitely scary. Not something I thought I would have.
@colleenyoung Thank you for all the help. Its not easy I'm 6 month away from graduating nursing school so this is the worst time ever, but my doctors have been wonderful and even moved my appointment up 6 weeks when they got the biopsy results. I'm hoping to have more answers on treatment Monday.
