Total Shoulder Replacement
I have three fully broken tendons (out of four) and my shoulder is dislocated. The dislocation is because there is nothing to hold the upper arm bone where it should be. I’m not sure how this all happened. Possibly degeneration from a fall a few years ago. The surgeon recommends Total Shoulder Replacement, bypassing any other option as they tend to fail. Has anyone had a dislocated shoulder as part of their issue, and how did it all go? In particular, is it ever possible to freestyle swim again. I’m Australian. Not being able to do freestyle laps is most upsetting.

I had a REVERSE shoulder replacement in 5/25 so have no experience with a straight shoulder replacement. A friend of a friend also had the same a few years ago and he swims regularly with no problems. I play tennis 4 - 5 times a week and can serve overhand with no problems. Apparently they use the reverse replacement when there is damage to the ac joint. Good luck.
