Total hysterectomy with Hashimotos

In a few weeks I’m getting an elective total hysterectomy for fibroids and endometriosis. I also have Hashimotos, clinical depression and ADHD. Im just wondering if anyone has had a total hysterectomy with Hashimotos and if so what kind of complications did you experience with balancing hormones, any depression etc? I’m very worried that my issues now with depression and ADHD will be a lot worse after the surgery.

@lgrec
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at age 16, had total hysterectomy at 40 for endometriosis. I never had problem with thyroid condition related to hysterectomy.

With removal of ovaries during total hysterectomy your hormones will definitely change.

Have your providers discussed if you will need Hormone Replacement therapy (HRT) after surgery? Or will you go into surgically induced menopause?

Hi Laurie,

Yes, I’ll be put on HRT right after I get out of surgery….patch. That is comforting. Thank you!
