To Everyone with Head Pressure and Blurry Vision Issues

@xavier99,@sennit,@briarrose and anyone else having issues with head pressure or headaches. I drove to Houston Texas where they have a lot of Neurologists and Neuro-Opthalmologists. I saw the Neurologist first and he was good. 30 years of experience. He calls my head pressure A new daily persistent headache. With a tension phenotype. He suggested three treatments for me. One was duloxetine which is an antidepressant. I cannot take those. I had in the past and they caused me to have violent dreams and I reacted to those. He also said IV haldol. And the last one was trigeminal and occipital nerve blocks. He gave me a note to take to the neuro-ophthalmologist and said that if she sees signs of increased pressure in my head then one of the Doctors would have to do testing and treatment. I went to the Whitsett Vision Group and saw Dr. Woon who was fabulous. My eyes were good and reacted equally to light which showed my symptoms are not from optic nerve dysfunction. My visual field was normal. No optic nerve swelling. I have Occipital Neuralgia. I had mild tenderness on the right side of my neck in the back. Clinical signs of Occipital Neuralgia is tenderness at the back of the head/neck area due to muscle tension. This causes referred pain to the eye area from the greater and lesser occipital nerve talking to the trigeminal nerve. Muscle tension is a common cause for headache. be sure to evaluate any associated neck stiffness and trouble with your posture at the computer, using a phone, and quality of your pillow. For neck muscle stiffness - do regular stretching, get a good pillow, heat, massage anti-inflammatory meds like Aleve or Advil. Now she ordered gabapentin (which is neurontin) and I am going home on Sunday. So it should be coming in the mail this week. I will be starting it at bedtime. I will let you know after I have had a few weeks of meds/and activities like head excercises and heat. Also maybe a massage. I will come back and let you know how it works for me. I am so glad I went to the neuro-ophthalmologist she is a fantastic Doctor. I am also glad I went to the Neurologist. He has 30 years of experience and communicates well. I did see doctors where I lived but they didn’t help. I advocated for myself. Sometimes we have to do that. There is Mayo Clinic, Cleveland clinic there are other Doctors in other states. I got tired of getting no answers and that really can do a number on you. I would certainly look at other areas for Doctors if you don’t have any in your areas if you can. I don’t know where you all live and if you have a good supply of Doctors but I can tell you Houston has a lot of hospitals and Doctors. I will need some time to start the medication and do some neck excercises and see how it goes. Then I will come back here and let you guys know how I am doing. I can’t tell you how you feel because I have had people say that to me. Nobody but each of you know that. I wish each of you good luck in finding answers and Doctors if you need to. Please let me know how it is going for you guys. I am glad that I took it upon myself to do it. It was worth it. This wasn’t the first time I drove to Houston from Florida. I have done it many times and I got to visit with my brother. @RN LORENA

@rnlorena I also have Occipital Neuralgia. I started when I bought a new bed pillow. The pillow pushed my neck up too far.
I’ve had physical therapy, and use the stretching movements they taught me when it flares up.
