Total Knee Repair Revision: A Success Story

Hi all here we are 2/26 few years since revision . Well I had a few good years. Unfortunately I am one of those people that develops more scar tissue. Last time I checked my flexion was 90. I told myself I would never had another surgery but I am going to see my dr this week see if can remove some of this scare tissue. I will only do if we can do arthroscopic surgery. Recovery to difficult when you get opened up I can’t go through that again. I recently went on a trip with my family to universal well I like rides , was so frustrating I could not ride some because I could not bend my knee to sit in the seat. So there is when I decided to look into getting some scare tissue removed because I would like to enjoy these things in life I love to do while I still can. I hope whoever reads this had better experience than with knee replacement.

Hi Karen, I am also facing a revision surgery because my original replacement has become unstable. I dread another surgery SO MUCH. I can't decide if I want to endure that or not. I wish you luck. Keep me posted on your decision and how it goes.

Hi Karen it sounds like you have nothing to lose by trying revision. I can relate trust me. I know it is very difficult decision to wrap your head around because you know the second time around exactly what kind of pain you are in for. Hopefully you will have better end result. All we can do is try stay positive and keep on moving. Prayers for your knee outcome better than it is now ….,

Thanks for your support, I'm trying to stay positive. I'm not looking
forward to the pain, actually my knee hurts me daily, praying that i can
have a better recovery this time around. I have no choice, i can't walk
without a walker, I'm desperate to be able to walk again.

Carolyn, i an sooo deading doing painful surgery revision again, but
honestly I have no choice if i want to walk again. Only someone who has had
this surgery know how extremely painful this is. My surgery is march 24th,
I'm taking it one day at a time. I haven't been able to walk for 2 years,
my lifestyle has changed very dramatically. I'll stay in touch with you.

I wanted to tell you all my issue is different . But my revision was totally different than first surgery was like night and day … for the better… I woke up in extreme pain first time , revision I had no pain was doing steps an hour after surgery. I hope this helps you I mean I still had the pain of course but different pain . I got flexion back to over 110 which was great for me that lasted maybe a year … but after revision usually does get better. So have faith and hope. My case a little different I develop too much scar tissue so few years out of revision I am back to 90. But I do what I can to keep going . Grandkids are tremendous help lol. This is one of the hardest surgeries I have ever had and I had a few …. Good luck to you booth it does get better.

I wanted to updated this story. Went to Dr yesterday I am at 95 flexion, extension off by 5 -10 degrees so no so bad. Arthrofibrosis has taken over my knee. Options which is hail of Mary dr words totally cut out knee replacement cut tendons put in hinge for knee. High risk of infection , than possible amputation.
So this is what I am left with after one tkr , a surgey one manipulation a revision tkr , months of pt , 1000 of dollars for myofacial and other therapeutic treatments.
For me it’s time to walk away from surgery while I can still walk . I talk to Dr about how my body develops more scare tissue if would have known I would never have had this surgery. I had full flexion before surgery I had pain but I have pain now so I am worse of now than before surgery.
But I am not going let this get me down. Dr gave me name of a pt that specializes in this condition if I can gain even one degree of flexion that is a win for me . Of course they don’t take my insurance lol but good therapy you end up paying for these days in my experience.
While my surgery path has ended my holistic path never ends. Good luck to you all hope you find what works for you.
