Timing

Posted by mech @mech, 1 day ago

I very recently switched from evening prednisone (21mg) to morning to help with insomnia. When I took it at 6pm, I would be a little sore about an hour before, but not bad. This is my 2nd day taking in the morning, and I wake up in terrible pain, almost gas sore as the beginning. Is it always like this taking it in the morning? I assume because I've been sleeping its worse.

Splitting the dose might help you. There have been a lot of discussions about that on this forum. You can just search on "split dose" or "splitting dose". You could try something like 16 mg in the morning and 5 in the evening.

I always took my prednisone in the early morning (around 4 am), and that worked well for me. I haven't had any pain or symptoms since I first started treatment.

I was taking 10mg prednisone between 5-6 pm...Woke up in the night/morning with lots of pain so I tried taking it later at 10:30pm and that works fine but I also have no problem with my sleep. If I do feel alot of pain in the afternoon I take one 600mg Ibuprofin and that keeps me good until the 10:30pm dose. Everyone reacts different to the timing so try a few different times to take it and I'm sure you will find the right timing. Wishing you all the best~

Thank you! I'll have to play around with it. Best to you as well.
