Timing of HRT, anastrozole - taking day or night?

Posted by trixie1313 @trixie1313, Mar 7, 2019

I've seen many messages about anastrozole, but does anyone prefer to take this in the morning or evening? I'm wondering if side effects are less via day or night?

Hi. I've just started taking it this week and that's a really good question. I've been taking mine in the morning. I wonder too if it's better to take at night.

I have been on anastrozole for about a month. I was worried about side effects like nausea, dizziness, joint pain. I think this works best for me. I do have bone and joint pain during the day so I try to walk every day and push through the pain. I try to avoid ibuprofen because I donated a kidney.

I have been on anastrozole for 11 months. I am taking it at night right before going to bed. It gives me hot flashes at night but I am not too bothered with it. (Any menopausal women could be getting it, right? 🙂
I second walking everyday or at least being active at home - go up and down, move around, cook, wash the dishes, etc.

Hi all, I am on exemestane, another hormone blocker like anastrozole
When I take exemestane an hour before bedtime, I get hot flashes.
So I started taking it around 1 PM to 2 PM, and I do not have hot flashes.
You might try taking this blocker earlier in the day and find that your hot flashes
will go away.

I take the hormone blocker, tamoxifen. I take it at night, because my biggest concern is my mood swings of anger, (I am not, normally an angry person), and sadness, with crying. I am asleep and so do not subject myself and others to this behavior. Everyone should test the time that works the best for them, and their particular side effects.

Hi,
I started Anastrozole in the morning today and by 3pm I came down with low fever. Did anyone have fever on the first day?

I have metastatic breast cancer and I take Anastrozole in the morning with Claritin which really helps with the bone pain it’s key for me. I take my oral chemo at dinner. I tried a few different ways but this worked the best for me.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try Claritin if I start to feel bone pain. Big hugs.

You can also take the generic Claritin usually found at Walmart under the Equate brand. ♥️
