TIL Treatment for Stage 4 Internal Body Melanoma...any Success?
In about 30 days, I will be receiving my own re-grown cancer T-Cells. This comes after chemo . Once my T-Cells are re-infused, I get the immune system boster drugs and I hopefully will be able to fighy off new cancer growth in my body and brain . Immunotherapy did not work for me after several months of trying 2 different therapies.
This is very new. Has anyone had sucess with this, or it did not work?

@darmitag: Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I'd have responded sooner with the red carpet roll-out but unfortunately the carpet was rolled up I was holed up in the hosptial myself with some unknown but suspected adverse reaction to immunotherapy for melanoma.
We're fortunate that we have such various options for treatment and I know TIL promises much hope as explained here: https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-what-is-til-therapy/
I don't personally know of anyone who has had it, so can you be our Ambassador? Seriously, if you could just check in from time to time after your treatment starts and let's us know how you're doing, I for one would would greatly appreciate it. Best of luck to you!

2 Reactions@darmitag: You get the til, I'll extend the honorary title! It sounds a lot more complicated than straight immunotherapy so I'm curious to hear the details. Thanks for being open to sharing!
Hello @darmitag ,
Hoping you react well and fight off the cancer with til therapy.
My father is in similar situation(stage 4 melanoma), we have tried Immunotherapy (Nivolumb + ipilimubab) for 3 months now and the latest pet ct scan shows it is progressive.
My father has wild Braf gene, so the targeted therapy option is closed as well.
Wanted to check with you what other Immunotherapy you tried?
Hi @darmitag and @yasiraffan
I wanted to check in and see if either of you (or your father) ended up moving forward with TIL therapy. My husband is currently getting his final scans and appointments scheduled so he can begin the process.
He first tried immunotherapy (nivolumab + ipilimumab) in 2022, but had complications when it began affecting his liver. After that, he transitioned to targeted therapy with BRAF/MEK inhibitors (Tafinlar and Mekinist). He had clear scans for about 1.75 years, but unfortunately, the cancer recurred.
He’s now been on immunotherapy (Keytruda) for three months, but the cancer is still progressing.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you might have to help us prepare.
Thank you so much.

2 Reactionsgood luck with doc. i know Mayo is very experienced with til so your husband is in expert hands. I am doing really good. i was in hosp 17 days for til and based on the natera blood test and a mri checking for new brain tumors. the results are perfect SO FAR...no cancer circulating now in blood, and no new brain tumors since dec 17, i get the pet scan ffor tumors in body in a couple of weeks. the hardest part of til, was the IL2...where they rebuild your immune system. chemo was fine, and putting in the til from iovance went fine. having said that about il2, i would still encourage you husband to get til. that process is short lived, and the benefits outweigh any discomfort... by a mile. all the best to your husband. other things that have help tremendously is to get God's help, He is a huge help. i hope all goes well.
