Tighness and pressure post robotic lobectomy: Will this pass?
I am 11 weeks post upper left lobe removal (lobectomy). Cancer free and very grateful. I would like to know if anyone else experienced tightness and pressure (constant) below breast area . I am not taking any meds, walking and doing light weights but the discomfort is always there. Heat and lying down makes it better. Dr, surgeon and physio are saying its normal and will pass. Anyone had that experience. Just needing a bit of reassurance. Thanks.

@colleenyoung thanks for reaching out and checking in. The tightness and pressure are still there and there are moments when I think its better. Apart from that, I am walking, doing light weights, even looking after grandkids. Doing life just in discomfort. Hopefully will start to ease off soon.

3 ReactionsI'm also 6 months after RLL robotic surgery. Yes those are similar to my experience too. With increase mobility the tightness will improve with time. Keep up with exercises and listen to your body. You'll know if you are overdoing things. I found one size bigger sports bra was helpful in the beginning. I feel the same, some discomfort here and there is minor. So grateful to be a survivor . Courage, faith and positive attitude will keep you strong and resilient. Wish you all the best .

2 Reactions@yelenab, I hope you've been keeping up with the helpful responses to your question. A couple more weeks have passed since you orignally posted. How is recovery going? Is the tightness getting better?
Same with me. Now cancer free and very grateful . I'm 6 months post lower right lobectomy. Exercising is very important, both pulmonary and general fitness. Pacing oneself also very important. I'm no longer in pain of course, but I still feel a pressure where the surgery took place, if I've overdone things, the pressure feels clamp-like. I also can't find the right bra to wear. The band of the bra is always a problem now. Discomfort. I believe recovery takes a good 12 months, but regardless, I'm also expecting to have some ongoing discomfort. To no longer have lung cancer makes me feel the luckiest person in the world.
I wish you all the best, and everyone who has gone through this major surgery.

1 ReactionThank you-I'll call my PCP's office. You are very kind-
Hi @flegmonde, It never hurts to make a phone call. If it's something that you wonder about, it's worth the investigation. You may be able to see a nurse in the surgeon's office. Just knowing what this is may put your mind at ease. Alternatively, I'm sure your PCP would want to help too.
Do you see your PCP regularly, any upcoming appointments scheduled?
I had robotic surgery on Sept. 30 of last year. I was fortunate - my surgeon was able to remove the cancerous part - right upper lobe. All the sampled nodes were negative. I still have a pouch of something under my right breast. It doesn't hurt, but I thought it should have gone away by now. I hesitate to call my surgeon-her work is done. I could call my medical oncologist- I've seen him only once and he did not examine me-just scheduled tests in March. I am in a quandary- my PCP would probably refer me back to the specialist. Thank you for listening to me!
I had lul lobectomy and lll wedge in February 2024. I still have mild tightness that gets worse with exertion. I'm told it's normal.
