It’s a silicone “ bandaid” type cover. I used
Scar-away and it seemed to work well. …. I had used it for ankle reconstruction surgery many years ago and you can’t see the scar unless you really search for it. You might not see the difference right away, but they really seem to help keep the scar flat and blended into your neck. Definitely try and reuse them for awhile( they can be removed and reapplied) because they are a bit expensive. Good luck!
From a surgical point of view I did not find it very painful. I had a lot of mucus for awhile which I was told was normal. I had a very bad pain in my upper back from the positioning…. I was given Tylenol for pain but that does not help muscular pain so a few a few days post surgery I had to take Motrin ( with a heating pad) to get relief and sleep. My voice had started being very raspy before surgery and it sounded better. The scar covers work well…. I wore them for 6 months and my scar is not really noticeable. Good luck!
After my surgery my voice was a little strained but fine. I noticed the strained quality in my voice increase when I spoke a lot; I also felt pain in my neck when I was speaking a lot. It might have been related to the amount of head movements that we do when we speak along with the soreness in the area from the surgery; but it improved with time.
Thank you so much!!! I am on it.
