They added cytomel for me to but they had me on to high of a dose and it got awful!!! Took me off. Now I'm back to square one again. Lvo only has still feel like crap daily. Extreme fatigue, weakness, body aches, headaches, cold feet, brain fog, memory loss, moody. So over it.

1 Reaction@dholcombe , I know, it is such a lifelong hard journey. I have gone the functional medicine routine as well and that wasn't helpful either. They just wanted me to buy VERY expensive supplements and do chelation therapy and all sorts of stuff. That might be ok if you have money growing on trees. I am working with my food as my main source of self help. I wish you the best.
I have had hypothyroidism for 30 plus years. It came be a real roller coaster.
I am currently taking both levothyroxine ( I have to take the name brand synthroid) and Liothyronine.
Currently I take 50mcg of synthroid alternating days with 75mcg. The Liothyronine I take 2.5mcg. I can take them together with 8oz of water first thing in the morning. I don’t eat any thing for an hour. I have made the mistake of drinking coffee in the morning, which can affect the medication. I no longer drink coffee or anything with caffeine. Also for me soy is something I must stay away from in order for the medication to work properly.
It’s a balancing act and it can change at any time. That’s why I find it very important to work with an endocrinologist.
Now I am finding that some of the symptoms I thought were due to my thyroid are actually due to something else. Which may endocrinologist is currently working to narrow down between Cushing and MACS.
It’s a journey. No one answer fits all.

1 ReactionI take both. My T3 and T4 are low causing hypothyroidism.

@oleander55
I have had hypothyroidism since 1988 (due to benign nodules.) I am responding just to offer another experience to yours. I take Synthroid daily with my morning coffee. My numbers are consistently ok. No roller coaster for me. My TSH is what is watched and it barely varies. If it does, the Synthroid dose is adjusted. I do not feel effects if TSH goes slightly up or down.
I have started taking levothyrexine for the past 3 weeks. The past 2 days had a big energy increase. Today feel like a walking corpse. Is this typical when starting this med?
