Thrush while taking steroids

Posted by lmpa65 @lmpa65, Aug 4 4:44am

I get thrush every time I am on steroids. This time my tongue is orange. I have not eaten or drank anything that color. I rarely drink coffee. Mostly just drink water. Anyone else ever had their tongue turned orange?

Impa65, Bless you. I just finished up Nystatin, Diflucan & Clomitrazole Lozengers for Thrush. I have never had my tongue turn orange, but, I researched this for you and it said it can. Mine is always white and coated down. Thrush is stubborn. I think the last antibiotic Cipro made it worse.

I had a sinus infection/asthmatic bronchitis for 5 weeks April-May of this year and had to go 3 different antibiotics & steroids to get rid of the thrush, plus using a steroid nebulizer added to it.

I've tried all of the natural things for thrush and none of them have worked for me.

Keep your mouth very clean, brushing, flossing, rinsing after each time of taking meds. If you have
a compromised immune system, you tend to be more prone to thrush. Never battled thrush like this until
I had COVID in 2022/2023.

Watch your sugar intake. I find it worsens thrush.

Praying for you. Blessings....

Thank you for the information. I also looked it up and thrush can be orange.

Also, rinse your mouth after you take your meds.

Do this already. But thank you for the advice.

Dear Impa65:
While on steroids and chemo drugs did experience and my dr told me to rinse 3x daily with Biotene mouthwash. Would swish around 2 minutes but no swallowing and found this helped.
