Night back muscle spasms - can't lay down, can't sit.

Hi
My first fracture was in 2022 January it happened in my sleep. Then my next two fractures were in 2024 after radiation for breast cancer again fractured in my sleep. I have been working out on a regular basis two to three times a week doing weights and treadmill. Just this week I worked out on a new back machine and I had increased my incline on my treadmill Sunday. Tuesday morning I couldn't get out of bed the spasms were so bad all night. My fractures are t8, t9 and 10.
I'm waiting for results on my x-ray see if there's another fracture my muscles have completely locked around my fractures the pain is off the chart as soon as night comes they start the spasms it's horrid I never experienced pain like this with the other fractures. Taking a muscle relaxer and Advil I just wondered if anyone else has advice on severe muscle spasms at night I can't lay down I can't sit. My Chiro has done muscle release and it works for about 4 hours and then it starts again.

I've been asking Kaiser to let me have Flexeril! However, they now say you should not take Flexeril over a certain age. Believe the age limit is 65. Leaves me out.
I took Flexeril in 1990. Had no side effects whatsoever at that time. My incredible Doctor at a comprehensive spine rehabilitation program testified for me in my worker's comp case and he pretty much raved about it. These days, it is riddled with a long list of side effects. But so is EVERY SINGLE OTHER medicine I get prescribed these days. And I had a good experience with Flexeril! Going to try what my ER recommended yesterday but I don't have much hope.
What dose of Tramadol are you taking? How is it working for you?

Hi
I actually got 50 mg today at the walk-in clinic but I'm terrified to take it because I'm on Zoloft and it says that you shouldn't take that med with Zoloft so I'm going to wait until I talk to my pharmacist on Monday to see if I should just try 25 mg. He also told me at the walk-in clinic to get Tylenol Extra strength because it goes right to the pain instantly and I could take six a day so I'm going to do that starting tomorrow until I can call the pharmacy Monday. Yeah I'm done with that cyclobenzaprine my brain is fried today I feel really weird and I'm so tired. I honestly don't know why my GP gave it to me when he took me off it a year ago.

Sorry you're having so much trouble. Yeah, if one medicine says not to take it with another medicine, I would not take it. They've got me on a prednisone type med and a supposed muscle relaxer for all this bad neck pain and tonight probably some more severe foot cramps. I'm going to forgo the prednisone. One shoe doesn't fit all and the doc in ER gave a steroid med to another patient. I took five of them pills today and just puked heartburn up! Burns like heck. I'm going to take a muscle relaxer pill as directed at night and see if it helps. Gotta go. Will probably be off a week while I go babysit my grand-doggies. Hope you feel better.

Ask for Soma, I've tried several different muscle relaxers. Soma was the best it worked and doesn't make you feel groggy in the morning. Also ask about tramadol for pain. Better then Tylenol but not as strong as oxy. Good luck

Hi
So I got my results all three of my thoracic fractures have fractured farther so obviously the treatment I've been getting reclast has not worked. I am really upset I did get tramadol I also picked up robaxin which is helping a lot better than the prescription muscle relaxer my pain has come down from a 10 to 7 taking the extra strength Tylenol four times a day. The pharmacist said I can just take the Tylenol in the day and at bedtime take the tramadol so tonight I'm going to try the tramadol. I will look up the Soma and see if it's available in Canada thank you

Just got home last night. Sorry not to have answered sooner. After writing before, I stopped the prednisone. The way it was dosed, was too complicated. 5 pills a day and having to eat before taking, and the puking the burning heartburn stuff was all I could stand. My PCP had prescribed Tizanidine (Generic for Zanaflex.) and the ER doctor said it was a good medicine for my foot cramps. Personally, I think they are in cahoots!! I started taking Magnesuyn 250 mg a while back for my foot and leg cramps and it has been excellent for stopping the cramps at night when I take it. So, after reading the side effects for the Tizanidine, I thought it would be stupid to take it for something and run the risk of having a BAD side effect if I am taking a supplement that has had no side effects and no cramps.
@kwright41175 I took Soma decades ago for an injury in a truck wreck and had good results. I've been thinking of asking for it. Unfortunately, I will be willing to bet they won't give me it or tramadol. I looked up tramadol previously and wasn't sold on it. Will try to check it out again. Soma might be good for me though to relax my strained muscles. Worker's Con wants me to have another go round with physical therapy at some off the wall place I am not willing to travel to.
If anyone thinks I have a bad attitude, you are correct! And I don't recon it's going away any time soon! Y'all take care!
