This just came out of my ear!!!! (not a question)
Was cleaning out earwax (drops, then hot water syringed in) and scored a huge chunk that looks like it came from another world!! It was about half an inch long. If you blow up the picture, it's super gross.
I had something similar except MUCH bigger come out a few years ago. It was even more horrifying-looking--a probably inch-long, gray textured tube that had busted open and filled the sink with masses of different-colored (and horribly stinky) earwax. Wish I had taken a pic of that one.
I could not figure out what it was until I recently wrote a description of it for ChatGPT and it came back with "keratosis obturans," which seemed to fit perfectly. Something like dead skin cells that form a big glob filled with earwax. Not painful for me, though.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but in both cases, it came out of my left ear, on which I had exploratory surgery in 1999 after a sudden hearing loss when I sneezed (perilymph fistula was suspected but not proven).
And I have a very longstanding problem with earwax buildup, so this wasn't surprising. Just GROSS!!!
