Suprasteneral notch throat area feels irritated
I have anxiety and sometimes cough very hard several times in a row to relieve it. I coughed hard to the point of gagging. I don't know if this did it, but my throat behind the suprasteneral notch feels irritated and also feels scratchy when swallowing (like something is stuck but isnt) . I am able to eat and drink with no problems of getting food down. When I started noticing the area feeling different, I started pulling the tissue at the bottom of the notch and squeezing it and pulling. I also pushed on the trachea in same area several times over several days because of anxiety. I had a ct scan of the neck with contrast and all came out negative (thank god). Could i have caused injury or irritation to the area which is causing swelling to push against my esophagus giving me the feeling? I plan on seeing a ent but thought I would ask for opinions regarding. . Thanks in advance

Hello @lancer123. Welcome to Connect. Since this sounds like an ongoing situation this may be something best checked out by your physician. I see you’re planning to planning to visit an ENT.
Do you have post nasal drip or allergies that might be causing the cough?
I plan on doing so. I was just looking for general thoughts. The cough is purely anxiety driven. I cough as a nervous habit not because I have to. In addition, forgot 5o mention that if I pull out on the tissue and swallow, the irritation is much less.
