Terrible weeping sores inside nose
I'm going crazy! This is going to be long. I'm 73 and have never had environmental allergies. About 1-1/2 months my eyes started itching and I started sneezing. I started taking Zyrtec and that didn't help so I went to my Dr. and she said it was allergies and prescribed Amoxicillin for 10 days in case it was a sinus infection and Flonase. The Flonase made my nose bleed so I stopped. I used a neti pot and that didn't help. I went to another Dr. and told her I had horrible sores in my nose and too was told it was allergies and keep using a neti pot and take Zyrtec and keep the sores moist. My problem is I'm allergic to neosporin, mupirocin and all the other ointments that end in "IN". I can't even use aquaphor or vaseline. Coconut oil helps a bit. Now I have weeping sores. I called my Dr. the other day and told her the sores were worse so she called in a RX for Azithromycin and Methylprednisolone. I started both today and also switched to Claritin which seems to help more than the Zyrtec. Has anyone else had these problems? I did make an appt with an ENT but they can't get me in for a month but now I'm wondering if I should go to a dermatologist?

I think you need to see a doctor who specializes in sinus issues, including cancer. If you can find one at Mayo, go and get an examination and biopsies if needed. The first ENT my husband went to downplayed the possibility of cancer in his sinus cavity, and so my husband put off for several months having a CT scan. That was a big mistake because he was eventually diagnosed with cancer of the mucus lining of his right sinus cavity. The key here is to see a doctor who specializes in nose and sinus areas and is familiar with rare conditions including cancer. I read on several sites that misdiagnosis frequently happens when dealing with this area of the body.
