Terrible heads aches and tinnitus

Posted by dlre95 @dlre95, Sep 18 9:08am

Does anyone have any suggestions for long covid headaches and tinnitus. DRs think all in my head which of course it is. No one takes it seriously. Told me to see psychiatrist. I have many more sympyoms but these are the worse.

I know how you feel, I went to a cardiologist to assess my rapid heart rate which began after a covid infection, he agreed that my heart rate was fast but when I said it started after having covid he suggested that I see a psychiatrist. To be honest I wouldn’t mind seeing a psychiatrist but getting in with one is another challenge to deal with. I also have headaches and awful tinnitus and it can really make me crazy, having so much noise in your head that no one else can hear is a torment. The fact is we have lots of different side effects from covid and some are truly horrible, try to stay strong and keep looking for help however it comes to you, good luck, Frouke.

Yeah, unfortunately.i did have migraines prior to covid but they have grown exponentially worse. The tinnitus too. I love it when doctors don’t have the education or knowledge to help so they lay it on us. Jeez
Idk wh we t practitioners you’ve seen but an ENT might help with the tinnitus. The headaches I’m still working on, and have just seen a long covid specialist. I’m going to get the stellate ganglion blocks next month and that can address many symptoms. Haven’t had much luck with anything else.
Good luck!

Where are you finding a Long Covid specialist. I have tried all over and they are closed now.

I’m located outside of Charlotte NC. Not sure where you are but it can be so hard to find someone. Here in the Carolina’s, they set it up so that primary care docs are specializing in long covid as opposed to trying to open up a bunch of new clinics, so that’s surprisingly cool. If you live near a good university I’d try there. If you’re out in the country etc, there are many options for virtual visits.
I’m just getting started with my doc - have had LC for a little over a year

It certainly makes things more streamlined when we are typically bouncing from specialist to specialist

I do not have headaches; I did develop almost debilitating tinnitus (among other "charming" symptoms) with COVID in late March/early April 2023. Ditto about those not taking me seriously. I'm going to see an EMT tho' from all I've read, there's nothing to do for tinnitus. Mine is strange - my mom (z"l) suffered from the same as she was going through health issues 27 years ago - in addition to 'whooshing' sounds in my left, in my right, I "hear" music - different tunes - just the orchestration not the singing. I'm laughing as I'm writing because it's nuts and the songs differ greatly. My "play list" is not what I'd have chosen. That plus a connective tissue disorder all manifest from COVID. Choose your expletive. I have favorites.

I might be wrong but the music in your head could be what they call “ear worms “, don’t freak out it’s just the name they gave it. It’s very difficult at times because in my experience I get one song without lyrics and it stays for days sometimes weeks. I’ve done a little research on it and the biggest cause is stress and depression, wow that’s a surprise. On a bright note you might have something different to and at least your music is a variety of different tunes, I would rather have what you’re getting with all due respect.

Chuckling a bit .. it's not "earworms" - those I know. This is very different. When my mother had it, it was as her body was failing and she was dying. I do not think I'm imminently dying. The sounds even w/ my earphones for zoom and other meetings never goes away. AND the songs are not those of my choice! (Really.) This is the least of my long COVID (finally confirmed) symptoms - the worst are the fatigue, and the connective tissue disorder/disease that they believe targeted my already compromised (by NHL) immune system. I don't want any of us to have any of this. Thanks for writing in response.

I feel very sorry for you and the suffering you are clearly going through, it’s just frustrating to hear all the terrible things that are happening to so many of us and in many cases we’re not receiving the help we desperately need. I do believe I said in my previous message that we are probably experiencing different issues, I think my intention was to find some semblance of a connection with you. At least you are getting some help with your health and that is a very fortunate thing, I too have a number of other symptoms that involve my heart and the help with this is very slow. Sadly I thought that having had to deal with cancer twice since the pandemic began I would be spared becoming another long covid victim, I shall continue to seek medical help and hope to find some resolution, amen.
