Tell me about your MUA.. Good or Not Good..
Been suggested I get an MUA. Don’t really want to. Six months post Right TKR. 7/31/25. ROM is about 105-110. Hard to bend going downstairs. Hard to bend from beginning because of nerve pain. Somewhat less intense now.. unless knee has inflammation and swelling. Seems to be connected to the nerve pain. I also have RA. Anyone have an MUA while dealing with that? Had left TKR done 4/3/25. Still stiff.. no nerve pain.. can go downstairs no problem. ROM maybe slightly better than right. Need encouragement either way. Do it.. or don’t. I can walk fine. Right hurts sometimes when I bend.. but just suck it up. I’m a 69 year old Grammy.. I could probably deal with this the rest of my days.. but then I wonder if I don’t get the MUA.. could it have helped. I’m being scared it will make the nerve pain worse again. Plus 6 more weeks of PT. I can sleep fine at night.. finally. Thanks

I was told a MUA really needs to be done within the first 12 weeks, so I would do some research on the success of the MUA this far out from your TKR.
I had my MUA 8 weeks out and they were able to get me to 130 degrees. I had PT scheduled the next day, unfortunately, I went into cardiac arrest in recovery and didn’t get PT for 5 days. I never was able to bend more than 90 degrees after everything.
I chose to have a revision 13 months out from my original and it was very successful . I’m now 14 weeks out and have full extension and a 125 degree bend. I still do daily exercises at home but no longer go to PT.
I’d get a second opinion on an MUA if I were you.
