Tdap vaccine injury?
Has anyone diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis had a Tdap vaccine in the months preceding your autoimmune hepatitis diagnosis? I was talked into a Tdap vaccine, by my GP, on 2/5/21. I need to stress that I am not one to take vaccines. The last vaccine I had before this Tdap was what ever I needed to attend public school and I graduated HS in 1992. My GP told me a scary story of someone who contracted tetanus and did not have the shot. I figured this shot has been around for many years and although I could not think of an immediate pressing reason to have it, I figured, it’s supposed to be good for 10 years and after the scary story, I decided maybe my GP was right. Long story short, my health was progressively declining and I was admitted to the hospital (after being jaundice, peeing brown and exhausted for over a month) on 7/19/21 and diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. Since my diagnosis I have been on and off prednisone, I was on Imuran for a little over 3 years and now I’m on Mycophenolate and prednisone. The mycophenolate is taking a horrible toll on my body. I feel like a zombie, I have spasms involving muscles and what feels like tendons. i have constant pressure in my abdomen on the right and left side, I look like I’m 8 months pregnant, I have no energy and no desire to do anything, which is the complete opposite of who I was before this diagnosis. Im being told I have to be on the mycophenolate for the rest of my life. Im desperate to figure out why my immune system just decided to attack my liver. I am convinced that it was the vaccine. I think that there is something in the vaccine that has gotten stuck (for lack of a better term) in my liver because it’s something that the human body is not equipped to process. Therefore, my body, doing what it was designed to do, is attacking the foreign matter in my liver in an effort to get rid of it. I came to this realization this year after my liver specialist made me get a third hepatitis B vaccine on 3/28/25. Shortly after this vaccine my liver panel took a turn for the worse, yet again. Through the last 4 years of dealing with this issue I have had 2 hepatitis A vaccines and 3 hepatitis B vaccines. My doctor wanted me to get them because after checking via bloodwork he said I did not have any immunity to either of these hepatitis types. I am not even at risk for hepatitis B, and I suppose hepatitis A can infect anyone who is not vaccinated. It seems like every time I get a vaccine I end up back on prednisone and now because my doctor said the Imuran was not working, I am on mycophenolate (I HATE mycophenolate). I am having a hard time getting my doctor to listen to me. This is a red flag for me because my doctor is one of 6 doctors that are supposedly doing research on autoimmune diseases. As doctors doing research, one would think this may be something worth digging deeper into. If anyone else has had a vaccine before being diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, please speak out. I feel like there are more of me out there and this needs to be brought to light, otherwise it will continue to be swept under the rug.
