Hello @farnhamlaf1, I have never felt nauseous when tapering off of prednisone but you are not alone. While you wait for others to respond, you might want to scan through the comments from others who have mentioned nausea when tapering - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=prednisone+tapering+side+effects+%2Bnausea
I haven't had nausea either, but I've read it can be a symptom of adrenal insufficiency. It could be that at 5 mg of prednisone your body needs more cortisol, but your adrenal glands are not active because you've been taking prednisone for an extended period of time. If the nausea bothers you too much you could ask your doctor for advice, but I've read that sometimes people who are tapering prednisone just have to go through some discomfort while their adrenal glands wake back up and become active again.
Thanks for info. I’m also on 20mgs of methotrexate.
