Tamoxifen yes or no?

Tamoxifen yes or no? I was diagnosed with ALH on my right breast with micro calcifications. I’m 50, still with my periods every month. Had an excisional biopsy on 12/22. Biopsy came back negative. I was sent to the Oncologist that suggested Tamoxifen for 5 years. She told me about the side effects, blood clots, uterine cancer, mood swings, night sweats, etc. I’m not sure to take the pill or not, I will be monitored every six months with MRI’s and mammograms. What is your experience with tamoxifen?

Sweating is a good way to remove toxin. However, for people with lymph node dissection, we can not use sauna or steam room. How disappointing is it!

Why?

My doc told me to avoid extreme heat. My PT also told me sauna and extreme heat can cause swelling of the arm on the lymph node dissection side.

I couldn't take the newer hormone blockers. I took tamoxifen for 5 years, from 2002 until 2007. I am taking it again, since 2018, almost finished with another 5 years. I may opt to take it longer. They now recomend taking it 7 years. I have had no problems with it at all.

Thank you for your advice. I have friends, people who didn't take it and are very well. My blood test for blood clot showed that I am susceptible to that. My understanding is that not our estrogen promotes the cancer, it's the toxins in our bodies that behave like estrogen. Toxins from food, environment, emotions etc.

First, talk to your doc about taking an 81 mg or regular aspirin each day to help prevent clots. Secondly, our existing cancer cells eat estrogen and stay alive and multiply! The tamoxifen blocks that action. It's that simple. Toxins are not the culprit. Exercise a lot--walking is great--to also prevent clotting. Hope you can be persuaded to take the drug.

Toxins that behave like estrogen. We need our estrogen.

Hi. I had breast cancer in 2018. Lumpectomy followed by 4 weeks of radiation. Started Tamoxifen (20mg) shortly after I completed the radiation. I have had zero side affects.....NONE. I would like to stay on it for another 5 years. I've started researching and I have found a couple studies that say here and in the UK that recurrence rate is lower in those who took tamoxifen past the 5 year mark. That's what I'm doing on this site is looking for feedback.
