Taking a shower hurts me

Posted by Snoopy88 @mandyh528, 20 hours ago

I have had fibromyalgia for over 12 years now. The older I get the more I plan out simple routine things, have strong boundaries and say no even after I have agreed to an activity if I am feeling like deaths door. I have learned to listen to my body and when I’m feeling down I up the self-care -asking myself what do I need? However I will never like take shower anymore. I used to love long hot showers afterwards when I was diagnosed, I cannot stand the water hitting my skin and feels like thousand of bee stings.

The best advice I can give is find a doctor you trust and then search for correct medication. Easier said than done, I know. Just don’t give up cause YOU are worth it!

How much pressure do you have.
How hot is the water.
In my new shower the water pressure is a little too hard, also if the water is to hot my skin hurts. I do a lukewarm shower.
Also I stand off to the side as much as I can.
Also, your soap, shampoo or conditioner can cause problems.
Talk to your doctor or a derm doctor.
Wish you the best.

I used to feel shower was like needles hitting my skin. I never thought I would hear anyone experience one of the same pain sensations I did. I was on Cymbalta, gabapentin and went to chiropractor. Recently went off the Cymbalta. Terrible withdrawal.but had more motivation and energy. It was okay at first, just pain here and there. Suddenly 5-6 months later I’m very much in pain. Have appointment to get Low dose naltrexone. Will try anything to not take Cymbalta again.
