Suggestions what treatment for pain due they believe from Gut to brain

Posted by johnbluffside @johnbluffside, Nov 26, 2023

Symptoms of IBS thru the years have left me with increased anxiety. And constant pain. Tried them all .. different GI Drs, Registered Dieticians, therapists, meditation, , ice, heat, accupuncture, every anti anxiety RX . The side effects of these RX are HORRIFIC!!! Getting off them the worse!!! They feel my pain is the improper balance of gut to brain.
Have to wonder if COVID or it’s immunes or being on so many different rx thru the years, THREE solid plus years every day I feel horrible. I have tried re training my brain nothing is helping …. Anyone else out there that has had success. Neck and total body pain every day my hands are so stiff. They have tested me for everything possible all negative . Fibromyalgia, pancreas, celiac, etc etc
Please any suggestions?

Excerpt from this article:
"And then one other point, which I hadn’t also thought of before, was that there are serotonin receptors outside the brain, there are serotonin receptors in the gut. And, and it’s possible that some of the gastrointestinal upset that some people experience may be related to those serotonin receptors."

I understand to some degree your battle. I’m a 69 year old guy who’s not ready to throw in the towel. I’m not offering any advice as I’m looking for answers myself. I just want to offer encouragement to you by saying “ with God all things are possible”.. There are several verses in Psalm 103:1-5 along with many many other verses that have been a scource of strength and hope to me. Prayers and best wishes.

Try feeding your gut with probiotics. I think it will help you. Sauerkraut is great high-grade yogurt Kiefer is really great. Worth a try.👍👍🙏

The gut to brain pain is very familiar to me. When I have acid reflux, the severe pain I experience is in my vagus nerve, which is connected to the brain. They tell me the esophagus is inflamed and causes the vagus nerve to become inflamed. Also, when I am tired or stressed, or both, I have severe vagus nerve pain which will last up to five minutes. If there are jalapeños in food that I didn’t know, that can almost send me to the emergency room. Today jalapeños are added to so many foods in various food and restaurant businesses. When having the vagus nerve pain I become very weak, dizzy, and my heart beat goes up to over 200. Yet, they tell me there is nothing that can help me. This is so discouraging and I want help, but no help available.
